The Other Love Triangle

Remember how when you were little and there was a new doll or toy that you felt super in love with that you begged your parents that if you had that then your life would be complete? Well, imagine having that same feeling, but towards a person. Just like how when you were younger and fell in love instantly with a toy but got tired of it a few days later, likewise the same can happen with a person. You might be head-over-heels, crazy in love with the person at first–even crazy enough to do something crazy; think Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

I call this the other love triangle because it is as if the person has looked everywhere and became too exhausted from the climb up hill, that when they reached the tippy top of the triangle, they make themselves believe that they have found “the one” and settle for that.

Just like that toy you couldn’t wait to get your hands on, or that outfit at the mall that looked super cute but when you brought it home it looked like a rag, you can also get so super excited about a person that you decide immediately you want to spend the rest of your life with them, only to find out how annoying they are the next day. Two examples of this “love triangle” are Katy Perry & Russell Brand, and Kim K. and Kris Humphries. Perhaps Katy was feeling a little rebellious and was simply so overjoyed to find someone who was equally eccentric and crazy like her that she was so in the moment, and couldn’t think clearly. Likewise, Kim was probably thinking that she was nearing 30 and out of fear of being alone, she hastily tied the knot.

Now I know all these lovey-dovey romantic stories and disney films make us want to believe in love at first sight that we force it upon us, but we have to remind ourselves that this is the real world and not a film. Yeah, sometimes some of us are lucky to find our soul-mates in love at first sight, but for the majority of us, it’s not that easy and we make things more difficult by forcing it.

The regular love triangle included three different people, in this ‘love triangle; it’s just you, your prey, and your hyper little mind.
